Orlando Pirates backtrack on Thamsanqa Mkhize deal

Posted: 18 July 2016 Time: 09:39

Orlando Pirates appear to have pulled the plug on signing Thamsanqa Mkhize as it is believed the player does not fit in coach Muhsin Ertugral's plans.

Mkhize trained with Pirates and passed a medical following his departure from Maritzburg United at the end of last season. However, he is no longer in demand in Mayfair, according to a source close to the player.

"It's true that the deal of Mkhize to Pirates will no longer happen," the source tells KickOff.com.

"The coach Muhsin Ertugral felt he is not someone he is currently looking for. The player trained once with the team and he did pass the medical but he will no longer be signing with the club."

Mkhize's representative Sizwe Ntshangase was reluctant to discuss the matter, but said he will touch base with Bucs today.

"We will speak to Pirates on Monday to hear the way forward," Ntshangase tells this website.

"But we are open with other teams who are interested in the player and life goes on."
