Roger De Sa believes Abbubakar Mobara and Riyaad Norodien will succeed at Orlando Pirates

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa has backed new Orlando Pirates signings Abbubakar Mobara and Riyaad Norodien to "fit the bill" at the Soweto giants.

De Sa, who coached the Buccaneers between 2012 and 2014, has mentored both Mobara and Norodien at the Urban Warriors for the past two years and backs the duo to add value to his former employers.

"They’re both polished players, and have been at the Ajax academy for many, many years," De Sa tells

"They fit the bill, that’s for sure, and they’ve got a lot of strengths that they will bring to the Pirates team, and I’m sure they’ll fit in well.

"Knowing those players pretty well that are there, and the whole system, they are only going to add to the Pirates squad.

"There’s no question about their ability – it’s just going to be about their adaptation to the bigger crowd and the lifestyle of Johannesburg."

The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper is confident the under-23 international pair will handle the pressure of playing for one of Africa’s biggest clubs, especially with former Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral at the helm.

"I think they’ll deal with the pressure in a pretty good way – I think they’ll be fine,” he adds.

"Also, having Muhsin [Ertugral] there, who has worked with them before, is going to help.

"I strongly believe they’ll both become part of the squad but Mobara especially, I think that’s an area where they were lacking, and I think he’ll play.

"Riyaad has a lot to compete with, but I think he definitely has it in him to become a regular as well."
