Goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane has begun his new life with Orlando Pirates after he started training with Muhsin Ertugral’s side today.
KickOff.com revealed two-and-a-half weeks ago that Pirates were in pursuit of the few-times Bafana Bafana captain.
The 28-year-old, who is reported to have already signed a three-year deal, was spotted training with the Bucs squad this morning.
The Limpopo-born goalkeeper is one of the players who turned down the opportunity to join Cape Town City after Mpumalanga Black Aces was bought by John Comitis, however he still had a year remaining on his old Aces contract.
Buccaneers defender Tshepo Gumede could now join City as part of a swap deal that allows Mabokgwane to join Pirates.
“Mabokgwane was training with Pirates at the Virgin Active this morning,” a close source confirms. “Gumede was also supposed to fly down to Cape Town today.”
Mabokgwane played under Ertugral as Aces ended fourth last season but only managed nine league starts as Shu-Aib Walters was preferred in goal.
