Emmanuel Letlotlo to emulate Jabu Pule Mahlangu, Nhlanhla Kubheka?

A well respected football coach and analyst in South Africa questions whether Emmanuel Letlotlo can emulate former Kaizer Chiefs players who have been promoted before.

Letlotlo scored nine goals to end as the top scorer in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge last season and has been rewarded with a three-year professional deal.

But being 20, and presumably behind new striker signings Mitchell Katsvairo and Lewis Macha, as well as Bernard Parker, will he break through and impress under the intense spotlight of the Amakhosi jersey?

“With him being top scorer in the MDC, there’s certainly something in this youngster that can be developed, and development doesn’t stop because you’re promoted,” says Farouk Khan in the latest edition of KICK OFF magazine.

“Especially at a big club like Chiefs, where there’s great pressure because they haven’t won any silverware last season, if he doesn’t play then he might just drop completely off the radar.

“I definitely think he could be like a breath of fresh air at Chiefs. I remember when Jabu Mahlangu – back then he was Jabu Pule – and Nhlanhla Kubheka were in the same situation…

“Will it destroy him? Will he be able to swim? We’ll have to wait see once he’s playing, if he makes it or breaks it.”
