Orlando Pirates complete signing of Thamsanqa Mkhize

Posted: 7 July 2016 Time: 09:58

KickOff.com can confirm that Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of former Maritzburg United full-back Thamsanqa Mkhize.

The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Mayfair after completing his medical yesterday.

The ex-Team of Choice defender is due to start training with The Buccaneers today together with midfielder Donald Mokondelela, who has also signed a three-year contract.

“Both Mkhize and Mokondelela have signed. The club will release the list of players signed and released by tomorrow,” an official at Pirates confirms to KickOff.com.

Mkhize is somewhat of a Maritzburg hero after scoring a vital 85th-minute free-kick against Ajax Cape Town in the penultimate game of last season as they went on to miraculously escape relegation on the final day.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Morrison is yet to report for pre-season with Muhsin Ertugral’s squad due to a delay in getting his visa to South Africa.
