Highlands Park look to add Charlton Mashumba to their roster

Posted: 4 July 2016 Time: 14:32

Newly promoted Highlands Park have made great strides forward in their pursuit of Zimbabwean striker Charlton Mashumba despite the possibility he may move to a club in Greece as well as interest from BidVest Wits.

In fact the Clever Boys are one of several clubs who have been chasing Mashumba after an impressive season in which he led the Jomo Cosmos attack, providing most of the goals and assists in their failed bid to remain in the top flight.

Now word reaching KickOff.com is that Mashumba appears likely to move to Highlands and continue playing in the PSL instead of heading down to the first division with Ezenkosi .

Sources tell KickOff.com that a deal will most likely be concluded on Wednesday.

Mashumba scored seven goals during the 2015/16 campaign, his first season in the PSL, after netting 17 in the NFD the previous year as Jomo Cosmos won promotion.

He had successful trials with Portuguese club CD Tondela last year but the move eventually didn’t happen as he felt he wouldn’t get the respect he felt he deserved if he joined from a South African first division club.
