Thamsanqa Mkhize leaves Maritzburg United

Posted: 3 July 2016 Time: 16:08

KickOff.com can reveal that Maritzburg United have parted ways with defender Thamsanqa Mkhize after the player failed to agree personal terms in a new contract.

Mkhize – fondly remembered for his superb free-kick which handed the Team of Choice three points against Ajax Cape Town late last season - met with the club management over the weekend over new contract but could not agree on terms, with his previous contract up at the end of June.

Mkhize's manager Sizwe Ntshangase has confirmed that his client failed to agree a new deal with the KwaZulu-Natal club.

"Yes, it's true, Mkhize is not returning back to Maritzburg,” said Ntshangase. “We will decide his future in football very soon.”

The 27-year-old made 12 starts for his club as they narrowly escaped relegation last season to end the campaign in 14th place.
