Mamelodi Sundowns are on the verge of concluding a new kit sponsorship deal with German company PUMA for a duration of three years, worth a reported R20-million.
Sundowns have been most recently sponsored by Nike but the contract, which had been in place since 2008, has not been renewed.
The last time The Brazilians were sponsored by PUMA was during the 1995 season when the team had the likes of Thomas Libih, Zane Moosa, Roger Feutmba and Daniel Mudau on their books. During that season Sundowns finished second on the log to champions Cape Town Spurs.
A KickOff.com source reveals that there are a few things that need to be ironed out before the deal is announced.
“We are talking about an amount close to R20-million,” the source says. “But there are a few things that must be sorted out including the marketing side.
“So we are not sure if the next CAF Champions League match will be played in a PUMA kit or not. That will be decided at a later stage.”
