New Kaizer Chiefs signing Sibusiso Khumalo is relishing the battle with Tsepo Masilela for the left-back position at the club, and targets a return to Bafana Bafana.
Khumalo joined Amakhosi from SuperSport United as part of a swap deal that saw Keagan Ritchie go in the opposite direction.
The 27-year-old admits praise for his more experienced teammates, but also threatens to cement his position in Steve Komphela's starting line-up in the new campaign.
"As we all know, Tsepo is the best left-back we have in the country so it will help me as a player to learn from him, but if I get my chance I have to grab it with both hands and cement my place in the team," Khumalo said after being officially unveiled as a Glamour Boy on Monday.
"I only need one chance to show what I can do to compete with the best. Bafana [call-ups] will happen automatically if I get a chance to play because I've been there before."
Though Khumalo grew up supporting Amakhosi's bitter rivals Orlando Pirates, he describes the switch to Naturena as a "dream" move in his nomadic football journey.
"It was my dream and now my dream has come true. I never thought I will play for Kaizer Chiefs," he added.
"[Leaving SuperSport] was difficult for me because I was comfortable and I was getting game time but, when I got the call from Bobby and Dominic from SuperSport, I thought it was a big opportunity for me so let me take a risk and see what's going to happen.
"I'm lucky to join Chiefs at this stage because I started playing for Moroka Swallows, and it was a big team at that time.
"I then joined Mamelodi Sundowns, which is also big, and then another big team in SuperSport United so, at Kaizer Chiefs, I will do what I do best."
