Keagan Buchanan ready for Kaizer Chiefs pressure

Posted: 28 June 2016 Time: 20:12

Keagan Buchanan says he is well aware of the pressure that comes with playing for a club like Kaizer Chiefs – especially when wearing the number 10 jersey.

The midfielder was one of eight new signings unveiled by AmaKhosi yesterday, and he says the move is a dream come true.

“I’m humbled by this opportunity to play for a big club like Chiefs,” he tells KickOff.com. “I’m in awe as I know it’s every player’s dream to play for Chiefs and it was mine since I was a little boy.”

But the 24-year-old, who joined from Bloemfontein Celtic, is under no illusions about the expectations that rest on his shoulders.

“I’m well aware of the pressure that comes with a club like Chiefs. I also know I have big boots to fill with the number 10 jersey.

“Chiefs legends like the late Shoes Moshoeu and Shakes Kungwane all wore the jersey with great aplomb.

“I know I will have to be on top of my game and perform consistently to show that I’m worthy of it. But this is something I thrive on and I see this as another challenge in my professional career.

“One shouldn't be scared and intimidated. You must still go out onto the field and play without fear and this will be my approach.”
