Free State Stars admit they are reluctant to sell highly rated midfielder Lucky Mohomi but will not say no to the right bid from either Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates.
The 25-year-old made 23 league appearances last season, scoring three goals, and KickOff.com broke the news more than six weeks ago that Pirates and Sundowns were interested.
The Brazilians have most recently submitted an offer.
Now a source at Ea Lla Koto provides an update and says that both Bucs and Downs are still negotiating with the club for the midfielder’s signature.
“Negotiations are still on although management is reluctant to release him but as you know money is always the force. It will depend on what they [Pirates and Sundowns] offer,” the source tells KickOff.com.
“The player doesn’t want to leave necessarily because he wants to establish himself but he won’t turn down a good move either.”
The source went on to add that a number of players were set for the exit door at the club, with around eleven new players expected to be brought in.
“The club’s scout Themba [Sithole] has done a fantastic job scouting players from all over the country,” the source adds.
“He has recruited around 35 players now which will then be cut to 25 and then the new coach [Denis Lavagne] will have a look at them with the intention of signing around eleven players from that 25.”
