The Port Elizabeth side drew away at high flying Orlando Pirates last weekend to pick up a valuable away point, but more importantly give themselves a major morale booster.
And although Bay United were thumped in midweek by champions SuperSport United, they will still have high hopes of upending Stars.
Coach Khabo Zondo was hoping to use Jimmy Zakazaka, the Malawian international, as an impact player in the second half but he held back because of a quad muscle injury in Wednesday’s game against SuperSport United.
The Free State side has lost just one of their 10 matches but have drawn their last two matches.
The club are seeking more consistency after a flurry of coaching changes in the first half of the season.
Kick off is at 15h30.
WHAT THEY SAY…
Bay United coach Khabo Zondo “Stars have been getting good results lately but I believe playing at home will help us. We will bounce back after our defeat (against SuperSport United).
“We paid for our mistakes and I will make sure those defensive mistakes are not repeated by tightening up in defence and trying to show my strikers how to score goals when they get opportunities.”
Free State Stars co-coach Themba Sithole “The preparations for Bay United have gone well. We know it’s not going to be an easy game especially because we‘ll be playing them in their backyard.
“We have been working on mistakes which have seen us concede goals recently and we are really prepared to take on Bay on Sunday.”
