South Africa U-23 coach Owen da Gama believes Maritzburg United midfielder Deolin Mekoa can impress at any PSL club.
Mekoa, who has attracted interest from Mamelodi Sundowns, slotted Bafana Bafana's winning penalty against Lesotho in the COSAFA Cup quarter-finals in Windhoek on the weekend.
Da Gama had little doubt Mekola would deliver at international level despite Maritzburg's struggles this past season.
The 22-year-old played at last year's U-23 AFCON, which served as a qualifier for the upcoming Olympic Games.
"You can never judge a player about the performance of his team but you judge him by his performance," Da Gama tells KickOff.com.
"As you know we cannot just change the whole team but you got to have continuity and we just had to strengthen him. He’s the player that has done very well at U-23 level and he took his performance to his club."
Da Gama adds: "I’ve always said that he can play for any PSL team and there is no doubt about it, any PSL team."
Da Gama and Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba have mainly selected U-23 players for the COSAFA Cup in preparation for the Rio Olympics.
