Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that midfielder Tiyani Mabunda stands a good chance to make his first appearance in the CAF Champions League this weekend.
Mabunda is amongst the new players registered by Sundowns for the Champions League group stage set to start this weekend. The Brazilians are set to travel to Algeria today for the clash against ES Setif on Saturday.
The former Black Leopards player finished the season on a high note after almost being loaned out before the start of last season.
Mosimane says ‘Sugar’ has a chance now to claim his place in the African tournament.
“What a story! What an unbelievable story of Tiyani,” says Mosimane.
“I put him down and said look at Wayne Arendse, he never had a chance to play under [former coach Johan] Neeskens, even when I came in my first year, he was never part of it, that is two years, and third year he cracked it.
“He now has a chance. He has an opportunity. He has done well. I said that’s the story for you, nothing is impossible.
“Dan Malesela I remember during his playing days, he broke his leg and people thought he will never play again and he made an unbelievable return.
“But CAF will be exciting, it will be good!”
