Kaizer Chiefs' Evans Rusike approach rejected

Posted: 14 June 2016 Time: 12:13

Maritzburg United have reportedly turned down two aproaches for Evans Rusike, including one from Kaizer Chiefs.

The Zimbabwean striker is in demand, having netted nine goals to keep the Team of Choice in the top-flight this past season.

However, Maritzburg are desperate to avoid a repeat of the relegation struggles and have decided to keep hold of their star players.

That means an initial bid from Chiefs has been rejected, while Mamelodi Sundowns’ interest in Deolin Mekoa has also been rebuffed.

Another player likely to stay is Kurt Lentjies. The midfielder was reportedly unhappy with the club’s initial offer, wanting a two-year deal rather than a one-year extension, and rumours has it that Maritzburg are playing ball and will give him just that.
