Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Soga Sambo has returned to Nigeria to join forces with Kwara United.

Sambo's manager Mohammed Lawal has confirmed to Kick Off that the Young Eagles star has returned to his native country in the hope of getting a move to Denmark next season.

“He has been out of action for a long time and we decided to allow him to go back to Nigeria so that he could gain full match fitness before considering his next move.

“Actually, he was supposed to go overseas after his good performance during the Under-17 World Cup in 2005; that was before he joined Mamelodi Sundowns. He felt that playing in South Africa would be a good stepping stone towards a move to Europe.

“However, things did not go the way we wanted due to injuries. But Soga is now fully recovered and looking at an option of going to Denmark next season.

Sambo tried his luck with Bloemfontein Celtic earlier this season but could not agree terms with the Free State-based side.

Mamelodi Sundowns is and has destroyed many young Boys careers. We still only have Lerato on the line up, but Robin Johannes is his third year at the team and there is no hope that he will ever play. Sambo is gone, whose next? Igesend will sign his son next season, wait and see!!!
