Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena lists favourite goals of 2015/16 season

Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena says his best goal of the season came against Free State Stars, while he also enjoyed his efforts against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Mabena finished as Dikwena's top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions in 2015/16.

The 29-year-old ran through some of his favourite strikes on Dikwena's official website, starting with a free-kick he slotted against Ea Lla Koto at Goble Park on May 7.

"This was my best goal this season," said Mabena, who is in the Bafana Bafana squad for Saturday's AFCON qualifier with Gambia in Bakau.

"The free-kick that I took was one of my best goals. Coach Cavin Johnson gave me a standing ovation. He is the one who gives me extra training to take free-kicks. He says I must hit the target.

"When I put the ball down Vuyo Mere was next to me so I told him to move as I am going to hit the target. My technique was right on the day. After hitting the ball, I just moved to the corner flag because I just knew that it was going in."

Mambena says he converted one of the finest penalties of his career against Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on March 9.

"It was one of the best penalties I have ever scored in my football career. I knew that Itumeleng Khune would want to save the team because they were trailing by 1-0. I knew he would go to the side so I just told myself to chip it. I opted to go with a chip. It worked for me. I do that at training."

Mabena also took delight in his back-heel finish against former team Pirates at the same venue on May 2.

"The back-heel that I pulled was awesome. I do that to our goalkeepers at training. I saw players scoring with a heel. It’s one of the things you do at training and apply it in the game. This time it worked perfectly."
