SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams faces an anxious wait on his knee injury

Posted: 29 May 2016 Time: 10:33

SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams said he will know how bad his knee injury is on Monday after undergoing a scan.

Williams suffered a knock during the 3-2 Nedbank Cup final victory over Orlando Pirates on Saturday and was replaced late on by Boalefa Pule, who made his professional debut.

“I got a knock in my knee and it is very painful," Williams told reporters. "I don't know what it is wrong at the moment, we will do scans and all the other things on Monday and we will know what it is wrong.

"I think [Orlando Pirates striker] Tendai Ndoro hit me with his knee but we will wait and see how bad it is."

Williams added that he wanted to continue playing as much as he could and that his plan was to save the inexperienced Pule from having to play more minutes in the game.

"All that I was thinking was about Pule. He hasn't played a PSL game and I was trying to stay on long in the game and let him play limited minutes, and we saw what he did when he came on was excellent.

"I'm very happy for him, he deserves it. He has been here for the past five years and he hasn't played the game."
