Ayanda Gcaba dreaming of CAF Confederation Cup

Posted: 27 May 2016 Time: 17:46

Ayanda Gcaba says it’s crucial that Orlando Pirates win the Nedbank Cup Final tomorrow so that they can return to Africa next season.

The Buccaneers face SuperSport United in the decider at Peter Mokaba Stadium, knowing that victory will secure them a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“Of course it is an opportunity for us because the last time we won it [in 2014] we went back to Africa to play in the Confederation Cup and we had a good run to the Final.

“If we manage to win we know we are going back to the Confed and we will just do what we normally do.”

Gcaba is set to line up alongside Edwin Gyimah in central defence, and he is delighted with how the partnership has developed.

“It’s a good partnership and it’s going strong in each and every game we play,” he says.

“We try all the time to communicate and to build each other up and to see the team going forward and create opportunities and be solid at the back.

“Having said, we know SuperSport is not an easy side. Everyone is highly motivated and all the best to both teams.”
