Ronwen Williams reacts to Bafana snub

SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams feels he has done well in the last couple of months and deserves a Bafana Bafana call-up.
Williams was not selected for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia next month with Bafana coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba calling Itumeleng Khune, Brighton Mhlongo and Jackson Mabokgwane.
And Williams – the only player who started all 30 Absa Premiership matches this season - believes he should have been there as well.
“I think there are other camps that I haven't been there and I knew that things were not going well,” Williams says.
“But I think I have been doing well in the past two months. So not to be there is not a good feeling because I think I have done well.
“But that's also a motivation for me to continue working. I spoke to my goalkeeper coach and he told me not to worry about it, I just need to stay focused and do what I have been doing and hopefully I will get a call-up.”
Meanwhile, with rumours continuing to link the 24-year-old with a move to Orlando Pirates next season, Williams says he is yet to be approached and that he is happy to stay at the club.
“I have a year as an option on top of that and I’m happy at the club. I spoke to the coach [Stuart Baxter] a few weeks ago and he told me that I’m in his plans so I’m looking forward to next season, hopefully we will win titles.”
