Ajax Cape Town explain Prince Nxumalo absence against Bidvest Wits

Posted: 22 May 2016 Time: 09:41

Ajax Cape Town have revealed Prince Nxumalo was rested for the season-finale with Bidvest Wits as a precautionary measure.

The 26-year-old was expected to lead the line on Saturday as he was in contention for the Golden Boot award - ultimately won by Collins Mbesuma of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

However, Nxumalo sat out his side's 1-0 victory at Cape Town Stadium, with fellow targetman Nathan Paulse netting the decider from the spot.

Ajax explained Nxumalo's absence on their website, saying: "Prince Nxumalo was unable to feature in today’s match as the medical team advised that his levels were a little bit too low and deemed it as a health risk."

Nxumalo, who scored 13 goals in 2015/16, endured his share of challenges this past campaign having previously twice been sidelined by epileptic attacks.
