SuperSport sneak into top eight

Posted: 21 May 2016 Time: 14:34

SuperSport United twice fought back to secure a 2-2 draw away to Orlando Pirates as well as a top eight place ahead of Golden Arrows.

Pirates opened the scoring in the 67th minute after Sifiso Myeni sent a well taken left-footed shot from outside the box, which finally got the beating of Ronwen Williams.

Eleven minutes later, substitute Bradley Grobler grabbed the euqaliser to give SuperSport's top eight hopes a much needed boost.

An 87th minute penalty for Pirates had Stuart Baxter at the edge of his seat as he watched Mpho Makola bury his effort into the top right corner.

However, young Denwin Farmer was in the right place at the right time as the ball fell fortoitously at the teenager's feet before he sent a low effort beyond Brighton Mhlongo in the final minute of regulation time to secure a valuable point.

The result means Pirates finish in seventh on 41 points while SuperSport sneak into eight place ahead of Golden Arrows on goal difference.
