Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala pay tribute to Reyaad Pieterse and Reneilwe Letsholonyane

Kaizer Chiefs duo Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala have paid tribute to departing pair of Reyaad Pieterse and Reneilwe Letsholonyane ahead of their exit from Naturena.

Khune has worked and competed with Pieterse for the last three years, while ‘Shabba’ and ‘Yeye’ have grown very close during their time at Chiefs and in the senior team national team.

The goalkeeping department has been freshened by the presence of Pieterse who had looked like the best challenger to Khune’s dominance between the sticks, yet the 24-year-old looks to now be on the brink of joining Pretoria rivals SuperSport United.

“We are going to miss him because we have been very close on and off the field,” Khune says about his fellow goal-minder.

“We have learnt a lot from each other and he is a great character. He is a player with a big heart and you could see even from the first day that he came here on trial that he is a player who wants add value to the club and he did exactly that.

“We are grateful for his contribution, himself and Yeye, and we wish them everything of the best in their future endeavours."

Shabba says he’ll miss fellow midfielder Letsholonyane, with whom he has shared the centre of the park for the past eight years.

“Yeye is a good player, a quality player,” the Chiefs skipper said. “He is a friend, a brother, a business partner and we are very close. I just wish him well wherever he goes and I know that he will do well.

“He is a great role model who looks after himself and he will make it wherever he goes. We will miss him a lot.”
