Baxter's boys humble Baroka

SuperSport United cruised to a 2-0 victory over Baroka FC in their Nedbank Cup semi-final clash at a rain-soaked Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.
SuperSport started brightly as Jeremy Brockie forced an early save out of Masuluke in the Baroka goal, and the keeper did well to save at Thuso Phala's feet a few moments later.
But a scrappy game in the pouring rain in Atteridgeville went through a long lull in which neither team could put their foot on the ball.
The game's big moment came in the 33rd minute when Baroka scored a beautiful goal straight through the middle, Mokondelela applying a brilliant finish, but he was ruled offside. Replays showed he was in an offside position but not involved in play yet when the initial ball was played, but when he received it again he was level. Debatable one.
The ruled-out goal gave the NFD side more confidence and they started to knock it around with purpose, and looked dangerous going forward.
Thuso Phala had a lucky opening just before half-time when the ball fell for him in the box but he yanked his shot wide.
There was one more good chance before half-time when Lucky Mothwa got to the near post but could not direct his close-range header on target.
Stuart Baxter's side wasted no time at the start of the second half and took the lead instantly, Bradley Grobler running onto Brockie's flick and burying past Masuluke's near post with a powerful left-footed shot.
Brockie was again the provider when Matsatsantsa made it 2-0 in the 54th minute. The Kiwi picked out Phala's central run and the winger took one good touch before emphatically toe-poking the ball into the roof of the net.
SuperSport controlled the remainder of the match despite Baroka's best efforts, and Brockie even had the luxury of missing an open goal from eight yards out in the 90th minute.
The final will be contested against Orlando Pirates, who beat Free State Stars 4-2 in the other semi-final.
