Man of the Match Kurt Lentjies says the three points is all that mattered from Maritzburg United's 1-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night.
Thamsanqa Mkhize scored an 85th minute winner as the Team of Choice climbed off the bottom of the table ahead of their final game of the season against fellow strugglers Jomo Cosmos at Olen Park on May 21.
United have 24 points from 29 matches - two points more than University of Pretoria, and one less than Cosmos.
Lentjies said: "It doesn't matter how you get it, as long as you get the three points. It wasn't about the performance, it was about the guys uniting, working towards one goal which was the three points.
"You can see we will fight till the end. The next game is against Jomo Cosmos, which is another vital one, so hopefully we can get the three points."
The former Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker had to dig deep as he entered the match carrying a knock.
He added: "I came into the game with an injury picked up in the last game against Orlando Pirates. I managed to fight for the guys, just to grind, because we all need each other. I just tried to play my part, that is all."
Lentjies was naturally thrilled Mkhize was able to decide matters at the death.
"We missed quite a few chances, especially from set-pieces. Even myself, I squandered a good chance in the box there. But I mean the guys were just motivating me to carry on.
"We had one chance, a beautiful free-kick from Thami, his first goal in the PSL, so that's great for us."
