Siyanda Zwane itching to complete individual treble of PSL league and cups

Posted: 11 May 2016 Time: 12:38

Mamelodi Sundowns right-back Siyanda Zwane tells KickOff.com he can’t wait to get his hands on the Absa Premiership trophy on May 21 to complete his set of winning all the trophies the PSL has to offer.

The former Golden Arrows defender has previously won the MTN8 in 2009 when his now-assistant-coach Manqoba Mgqithi was in charge of Abafana Bes’thende.

The 30-year-old, who signed a three-year deal at the start of 2014/15 season from Arrows along with Bongi Ntuli, has won two cups in just two years at Sundowns – the Nedbank Cup last season and Telkom Knockout earlier this campaign.

Zwane will have to wait until Sundowns are officially crowned league champions in two weeks’ time after the last match against Platinum Stars to receive the medal he is missing.

While Zwane can’t wait to lay his fingers in the trophy that is most coveted in the country, he says the technical team has worked hard this season, doing video analyses of opponents and winning the League title has brought a lot of satisfactory to him.

“It’s beyond happiness because I think this is one cup that was missing in my cabinet as a player to win,” Zwane tells KickOff.com.

“Because I have won the MTN8 with Arrows and I won the Nedbank Cup with Sundowns, Telkom Knockout with Sundowns and now I have won the league with Sundowns, so this is big and it’s a blessing.

“The league is a dream come true and it’s a pinnacle for any player so I can’t wait … this is amazing. To others it’s a second time, but to me it’s huge.”

The Durban-born player feels there is more to come from this juggernaut Sundowns despite disappointment in the CAF Champions League after being downgraded to the Confederation Cup.

“There is still more coming because we are an ambitious team and we’ve got ambitious players,” Zwane adds.

“Since we are in this CAF Confederation Cup we want to go all the way and make sure we win this one because we are disappointed not to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.

“This is a short-term goal after the league title … we want to go for the Confederation Cup.”

Zwane, who has made 12 league appearances this season, travels with the Brazilians squad to face Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium tonight.
