Tiyani Mabunda is reaping the rewards of patience at Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 5 May 2016 Time: 21:27

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tiyani Mabunda says patience and hard work are behind his sudden reversal of fortune at Chloorkop.

Mabunda battled for game-time for much of the season and at one stage was linked with a move away from Chloorkop.

'Sugar' has since won the hearts of Sundowns fans following his superb performances since the start of April.

"I always believe in my talent and I have never doubted myself,"Mabunda tells

"I knew when I came to Sundowns that it would not be easy. It took patience, hard work and commitment to go throughout the difficult challenges.

"In life, when you face challenges you don't run away. I am also grateful to God, it is through his will and power that the door has opened again for me," he added.

Mabunda joined Sundowns ahead of the 2013/14 season from Black Leopards but it is only in the last month he has seen regular football. He spent last season on loan at Free State Stars.

Mabunda started for Sundowns as they beat University of Pretoria 3-0 on Wednesday to clinch the 2015/16 PSL title.
