NFD side FC Cape Town claim one of their top players has been poached by a PSL club ahead of the 2016/17 season, and they expect more to leave the club.
The Cape team has released a statement confirming that Zimbabwean central midfielder Marshall Munetsi has signed a five-year deal with an unnamed PSL club.
According to the club’s intermediary, top scorer Simphiwe Gwala is also expected to sign for a PSL team, and has reportedly attracted interest from Egypt and Europe.
Gwala has scored nine goals in 14 appearances in the NFD this season and is amongst the top scorers in the league despite FC Cape Town’s modest 10th position.
“We have received numerous European as well as Egyptian interest for big Equatorial Guinea central defender Francisco Ondo,” the statement adds.
“Egyptian as well as European scouts were watching as the Equatorial Guinea international physically demolished the Highlands Park attack this weekend.”
FC Cape Town are also expecting Lucky Sithole and Jino Moeketsi to be called up for South Africa’s Olympic squad.
