Cavin Johnson on Masibusane Zongo sacking

Posted: 3 May 2016 Time: 12:52

Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson says he will no longer talk about Masibusane Zongo following the player’s sacking by the club.

Dikwena announced on Friday that they had parted ways with the 26-year-old after his latest misdemeanours.

It is the latest in a long line of disciplinary issues for Zongo, and Johnson was clearly left disappointed by the player’s actions.

“The name Zongo doesn't exist at the club anymore for many reasons,” Johnson says. “As coach or mentor we gave him chances.

“I feel I rather have to spend my energy more on the young ones. You could see Thami [Gwabeni] the number 30 [against Pirates last night]. You see where he comes from and then you will understand  where the future lies for Platinum Stars.”

Meanwhile, Johnson is hoping that goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela has learnt from his mistakes.

Mzimela, together with Kulegani Madondo, were fined by the club and put on final warnings for disciplinary issues.

“He had a fantastic game [against Pirates] considering what he has gone through. I hope what happened he will take positively and take his football career to another level.”
