Bidvest Wits midfielder Siyabonga Nhlapo: Mamelodi Sundowns look tired

Posted: 26 April 2016 Time: 11:22

Bidvest Wits midfielder Siyabonga Nhlapo believes title rivals Mamelodi Sundowns are showing signs of fatigue as the season reaches its climax.

Wits trail the pace-setting Brazilians - who exited the CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup last week - by six points with five matches left.

“They look tired now. It seems the CAF travelling took a lot from them having seen them exit the Champions League and beaten by Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend,” Nhlapo tells KickOff.com.

“Now they are playing Ajax Cape Town away who are also looking to qualify for top eight and after that it is Kaizer Chiefs. It won't be easy for them and what we must do is to capitalise when they drop points.”

Wits play a resurgent SuperSport United tonight at Lucas Moripe Stadium, while Sundowns will visit Ajax Cape Town tomorrow at Athlone Stadium.

The Bafana Bafana international added that the Students also cannot afford to drop more points after being held to a goalless draw against Free State Stars in their last league match.

“We respect SuperSport, we know they are desperate for three points as well as they aim to finish inside the top eight. We are now forced to win all our remaining matches including this one.

“We try our best to make sure we win all our remaining matches, including the Sundowns one next month.”
