Kurt Lentjies rallies Maritzburg United troops

Maritzburg United skipper Kurt Lentjies says his side will fight to the bitter end as they cling onto faint hopes of retaining their PSL status.

The industrious midfielder netted a 72nd-minute equaliser in his side’s last match, a 1-1 draw with KwaZulu-Natal rivals Golden Arrows, a result which left them bottom of the log, three points behind second-from-bottom Jomo Cosmos.

With just five games left to play in the season, Lentjies knows the Team of Choice face an uphill task, yet insists his side will not give up.

“Home and away, we have to get the three points from our next five games,” Lentjies is quoted as saying on his club’s official website.

“We’ll have to fight for the last five games, we still believe we can survive no matter what and we’ll fight to the end.”

Maritzburg are next in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Free State Stars, with SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town and Jomo Cosmos their four remaining fixtures thereafter.
