Pitso Mosimane has no issues with Themba Zwane

Posted: 21 April 2016 Time: 18:20

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he won’t take any action against Themba Zwane following his reaction to being substituted last night.

Zwane was taken off just before halftime of the CAF Champions League game against AS Vita for tactical reasons, and was clearly unhappy with the decision.

However, Mosimane says he welcomes the winger’s attitude of wanting to stay involved in the game.

“He is not happy … he is right. I don’t like a player who comes out and is happy and merry,” the coach said.

“I mean really, you have been pulled out of this big game and you are happy? No, I like this culture … this mentality is right. He said ‘coach, why did you take me out, I needed to give more’. That’s good.

“It’s not negative because he wants to play; he wants to to be there. It’s okay, the boy is right … he is not respectful. We take it a different way. He will learn also.”

Meanwhile, AS Vita coach Florent Ibenge says Mamelodi Sundowns are a very good team, but feels his side deserved to progress.

“Sundowns are a very excellent team, but they squandered a lot of  good scoring opportunities,” Ibenge said.

“We did the same in terms of missing opportunities and at one stage we hit the crossbar; that’s part of the game. Yes, Sundowns could have scored more goals, but we took our chances very well.”

Vita are the only DRC team left in the competition after TP Mazembe lost to Wydad Casablanca, and Ibenge added that they will fly the flag high.

“TP Mazembe have been kicked out and we are now the sole ambassadors of the country. We will meet good teams; teams that have good financial muscle and good facilities which we don’t have, but our aim is to be amoungst last four teams in the competation.”
