My Music: Grant Kekana

Posted: 21 April 2016 Time: 14:07

It’s almost time for the 2016 South African Music Awards. We caught up with SuperSport United right-back Grant Kekana to see what he’s listening to.

First Local Album? Mzekezeke. I think it was his second album [Ama B.E.E. - 2006]

Last concert/music show you attended? The annual ‘1st Friday’, which happens every year in Polokwane and where most local artists perform.

What are you currently listening to? Right now I’m listening to a lot of Emtee and Nasty C.

What is your own musical experience? I’ve always wanted to make a rap song or an EP, so hopefully this year it will come to life; in terms of instruments, I’m still trying to learn to play the piano but I’m struggling.

Who is you favourite local artist? There’s plenty to choose from, but at the moment I think Emtee is my favourite.

Who do you think will be the next big thing in the local music scene? The next big thing will probably be Emtee or Nasty C – they are both making good music and hits that we can relate to.

Favourite local song? It would have to be ‘Hell Naw’ by Nasty C.
