Premier Soccer League Absa Premiership: Mamelodi Sundowns vs Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 16 April 2016 Time: 17:10

Mamelodi Sundowns oozed class and cruised to 2-0 victory over Jomo Cosmos in an Absa Premiership clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening.

Sundowns started sharply, playing some exciting one-touch football around the box as well as playing effectively on the quick counter, Hlompho Kekana and Khama Billiat looking particularly impressive.

Kekana played a fanatastic, drilled long-ball early on that sent Billiat through on goal but the Zimbabwean could not direct his shot on target under pressure.

Billiat created the first real chance for Keagan Dolly as he got to the right byline and cut it back, but Dolly's shot was saved by Cosmos goalkeeper Thabo Modiba.

Cosmos were starting to settle and looked organised, containinng the Brazilians' mighty attack, but that kind of thinking was premature.

Just after 30 minutes played, Billiat picked out Leonardo Castro in the area and the Colombian scored with a sublime volleyed lob over the goalkeeper - a truly world-class goal.

Kekana found Billiat with the same type of long-ball as before three minutes later and this time Billiat composed himself, took his time and picked his spot under the keeper to make it 2-0, and Downs were cruising.

In the second half Pitso Mosimane's side continued to boss the game but did not create many more openings as they took their foot of the pedal somewhat, with Ezenkosi offering nothing to threaten them.

Sundowns comfortably saw out the rest of the match to secure three points that take them seven points clear of second-placed Bidvest Wits.
