Tashreeq Morris reflects on trial at Ajax Amsterdam

Posted: 12 April 2016 Time: 13:14

Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris was impressed with the professionalism of Ajax Amsterdam's players on a recent trial in the Dutch capital.

Morris and teammate Abbubaker Mobara trained with the Eredivisie champions last week, with Urban Warriors coach Roger de Sa also making the trip abroad to trade notes with Frank de Boer.

“I’ve been to Amsterdam twice before, but this time was very different,” Morris told his club's website.

“We trained with the first team the Monday, the pace and intensity was so high. The other days we trained with the reserve team. I learnt a lot and it opened my eyes as to how those players treat their jobs. It was nice to see how they all come to training and how they apply themselves.

“The tempo and intensity of the first team and the reserve team are both extremely high. I feel like we can train and play at that intensity here at Ajax Cape Town, but at the moment we aren’t there yet. We watched one of their games as well, they really apply themselves well, much more so than we are doing here.”
