University of Pretoria came from a goal down at half-time to secure a huge relegation battle victory over Maritzburg United, winning 4-2 in their Absa Premiership clash at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Deolin Mekoa put the Team of Choice ahead in the 24th minute with a crisp strike into the top-right corner from the edge of the area after cutting inside following a quick counter-attack.
Maritzburg played the better football in the first half and looked to be in control when the teams went into the half-time break, but everything changed in the second half.
Tuks scored two goals in quick succession at the second 45 minutes to turn the game on its head. First Mpho Maruping powered a header home in the 46th minute and then Lennox Bacela slotted into the bottom corner just two minutes later.
Then in the 55th minute it was 3-1 to Tuks as Bacela secured a brace, slotting into the bottom-left corner.
And it was 4-1 in the 62nd minute when Atusaye Nyondo's cross deflected off Brian Onyango and past Glenn Verbauwhede's near post as the strong home support started to vacate their seats.
Philanu Zulu pulled a goal back in the 69th minute with a header across Tristan Coetsee.
The referee then awarded a baffling spot-kick to the home side as Partson Jaure was adjudged to have fouled or handballed, none of which occured, but Lentjies missed the penalty anyway.
The result moves Shaun Bartlett's side out of the bottom two having played a game more than Jomo Cosmos and Maritzburg.
