Orlando Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola says Bucs will show no mercy to his former club Free State Stars at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Both teams have have 32 points from 23 games, with seventh-placed Pirates narrowly ahead on goal difference.
"The fact is they are one point behind us and we simply have to get the job done in order to put some distance between us and them which makes this encounter a six-pointer," Makola told his club's website.
"We have to win this match in order to climb up the ladder so there will be no mercy for Stars at Orlando."
Makola, who traded Stars for the Buccaneers in 2012, says the Soweto giants have devised a plan to make the most of home advantage.
"We will collectively do our best to win the match. We are playing at home and in front of our supporters therefore we will use that to our advantage.
"Orlando has a big pitch which we are familiar with, we will simply use the length and breadth of the pitch as well as the skill and pace of our players to attack them.
"We have a plan which will assist us in exploiting their defensive approach and help us get that desired result which is a win against Free State Stars."
