Lehlogonolo Masalesa not underestimating Nedbank Cup opponents Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 3 April 2016 Time: 12:45

Orlando Pirates midfielder Lehlogonolo Masalesa believes today’s Nedbank Cup clash against Jomo Cosmos will definitely be different to what happened the last time the two teams met.

The Bucs hammered Ezenkosi 5-0 last month in a one-sided tie in Orlando which has brought up expectations from sections of their fan base that this will be another walk in the park, yet Masalesa disagrees.

“It will be different from the last game that we played against them,” he argues.

“It is a cup game and as you know, cup games are always interesting and I think they will also have a bit of pressure off them because of their log position. So it is an opportunity for them to also enjoy the game and I think they will try their best to beat us. They obviously have revenge at the back of their minds, so we are expecting a tough game.”

The central midfielder adds that he doesn’t believe the venue – Olen Park – will make much of a difference.

“I think the venue doesn’t really make a difference for us because our supporters are always able to back us up anywhere we play in the country,” he says. “Obviously it is an advantage for them to play at home, but I don’t think the venue really makes much of a difference.

“What is important is what we do during the game,” he continues. “We are looking forward to the game and we expect our supporters to come in numbers and hopefully they will support us there as much as they would have supported us in Orlando.”

Today’s clash kicks off at 15h00.
