Kaizer Chiefs crashed out of the African Champions League in the first round following a goalless draw with Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in Abidjan on Sunday.
Amakhosi were eliminated 1-0 on aggregate, having lost the first leg at FNB Stadium on March 12.
Chiefs' exit means they look likely to end the season without silverware as they trail Absa Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 13 points with seven matches left.
It was a bad day for South African teams in CAF competition as Bidvest Wits were earlier bundled out of the second-tier Confederation Cup with a 7-3 defeat to Tanzanian outfit Azam FC.
Sundowns, however, are still flying the flag high as they advanced to the second round of the Champions League with a 3-1 aggregate win over Congolese side AC Leopards on Saturday.
Chiefs XI vs Mimosas: Khune, Moleko, Mathoho, Gordinho, Masilela, Tshabalala, Katsande, Maluleka (Bukenya 65'), Baloyi (Mthembu 46'), Parker (Matovu 71'), Abraw.
