Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says they have undergone somewhat of a transformation in recent months due to forced changes in the squad.
Tinkler explains that the squad have faced major changes in recent months due to the large number of injuries and departures of key members.
The likes of Oupa Manyisa, Rooi Mahamutsa, Siyabonga Sangweni have all suffered long-term injuries, while Kermit Erasmus left for a move to France, which has seen some new faces turning out for the Buccaneers.
"This team has been going through a lot of transformation when you look at it, a lot of it has been due to injury," explained Tinkler.
"As you are well aware, a number of players – Siya Sangweni, Rooi Mahamutsa, Kermit Erasmus, Oupa Manyisa – these were the spine and the skeleton of this team.
"So, like I;ve said, it's going through a bit of a transformation period, and the players have responded well."
The former Bidvest Wits assistant coach has also praised some of the players who have stepped up in the absence of the more senior members of the squad.
"Memela's done well; Qalinge's done well – I can't really point fingers at them – Ayanda [Gcaba]; Eddie [Gyimah]...
"We look at all these guys and they weren't that involved really, in our exploits into Africa, but they have come in and done extremely well," he added
