Brian Baloyi backing for Darren Keet

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Brian Baloyi says the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers could be Darren Keet’s chance to shine.
The former Bidvest Wits man, who has been on fire in Belgium, has been included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the double header against Cameroon at the end of the month, having last featured in the 2015 Afcon opening defeat to Algeria.
Keet is the only one of the three keepers playing regularly, with Itumeleng Khune working his way back from injury, while Jackson Mabokgwane is playing second fiddle to Shu-Aib Walters at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Baloyi suggests that for this reason, Keet should be starting against the Indomitable Lions.
“Darren Keet has been playing, he’s part of the team, but the coach will only decide [who starts] when they have had training the whole week and he sees them,” Baloyi tells KickOff.com.
“But out of the three, he is the only one who has been playing regularly, and also he’s playing in Europe, and that should count.
“I know he’s been part of the team many times and he’s not really stamped his authority, but maybe this is the chance for him. If given the chance he must grab it with both hands.”
