Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mzikayise Mashaba says he can play any position in the team and that has helped him grow as a footballer.
Mashaba has operated at the back, in the engine room and upfront, and says he will do duty wherever necessary for the Absa Premiership leaders.
“You know when you are a versatile player you just have to play anywhere. I'm just waiting for my chance to play as a keeper one day,” Mashaba says.
“I used to play as a left winger while growing up and then converted as a striker while playing for the Under-20 and Under-23s. So I can play anywhere. As long as I'm on the pitch.”
The 27-year-old believes injuries have hampered his prospects at international level.
“I've been in an out because of injuries for the club also, so that's another thing which is taking me back for selections in the national team,” he says.
“I just have to start focusing on my team first and then I will think of playing for Bafana.
“When one is given an opportunity you must play.”
Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba will on Thursday name his squad for a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Cameroon this month.
