Orlando Pirates injury update: Sifiso Myeni returns; Happy Jele and Oupa Manyisa still recovering

Posted: 1 March 2016 Time: 11:37

Orlando Pirates have been handed a major boost ahead of this weekend’s Soweto Derby with the return of winger Sifiso Myeni.

The 27-year-old has been out of action for two weeks after suffering an elbow injury in his side’s 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last month.

The Bucs speedster completed two friendly matches without the onset of pain, and has now re-joined the first team squad in their preparations for this weekend’s Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash against their perennial foes.

Meanwhile, defender Happy Jele continues to be treated for his hip injury suffered at the start of 2016, and is being closely monitored by the Bucs medical start while doing light training with the rest of the team.

Skipper Oupa Manyisa has also started training with the first team squad, yet with minimal contact as he undergoes his last phase of rehab following his ankle injury sustained in September last year.

Striker Letsie Koapeng is still two weeks away from joining his team in training as he continues his rehabilitation while doing light individual training.

Pirates host Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday in their Cup encounter, with kick off set for 15:00.
