University of Pretoria beat Chippa United 3-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
The victory sees Shaun Bartlett claim his first win as head coach of the Pretoria side.
The three points moves AmaTuks to within a point of Jomo Cosmos in 15th place and four points clear of bottom placed Maritzburg United who have a game in hand.
Willem Mwedihanga, Thabo Mosadi and Getaneh Kebede got their names on the score sheet for the hosts, who registered their fourth win of the season.
Aristide Bance squandered a glorious chance to open the scoring on 17 minutes, the Burkina Faso striker firing straight at Tristyn Coetsee from point-blank range; the chance proved to be the Chilli Boys best of the game.
Mwedihanga opened the scoring in the 35th minute, the Namibia national directing a powerful header into the top corner.
Thabo Mosadi doubled the hosts' lead with his first involvement from the bench, the winger taking two touches to lose his marker before firing home from a tight angle with his third on 61 minutes.
Kebede sealed all three points 10 minutes later. The Ethiopian finally broke his scoring duck, tapping in from close range after Daniel Akpeyi parried Thabo Mnyamane's initial effort.
