Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka has lauded teammate William Twala for his contribution towards their Absa Premiership victory over SuperSport United at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening.
Maluleka opened the scoring midway through the second half before Twala netted the winner 15 minutes later to cancel out Jeremy Brockie’s equaliser and hand Amakhosi a hard-fought 2-1 win.
“It’s a good feeling to always be on the scoresheet, and we managed to get a positive result so we’re very happy about that,” ‘Mido’ told SuperSport after the match.
“It was high-intensity from the first whistle; it was very tactical and we tried to manage the game according to the coach’s instructions at half-time, and I think we executed that very well.
“By getting the second goal in the dying minutes, I think that also helped us a lot.”
Despite coming on for Bernard Parker with just under 30 minutes left on the clock, Twala made a telling contribution by grabbing the all-important goal to hand his side the full three-points, much to Maluleka’s delight.
“He [Twala] made an impact after taking over from Bernard [Parker]; he did very well especially getting on the scoresheet, so I was very, very happy for hm,” he added.
The win sees Chiefs extend their winning-streak to four league matches, as they move up into third ahead of Mpumalanga Black Aces, who face Orlando Pirates on Sunday afternoon.
