Wits’ Jabulani Shongwe more worried about Mamelodi Sundowns than Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 19 February 2016 Time: 12:00

Bidvest Wits winger Jabulani Shongwe says his team is more worried about closing the gap to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns than creating breathing space over fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs.

Fourth-placed Amakhosi trail the Students by just one point, yet Shongwe is more concerned about the current table-toppers than last season’s champions.

"We are looking more at closing the gap in front of us, that's why I say we are more worried about Sundowns than Chiefs,” he said. “The nine-point difference between us and the log leaders is too big.”

The Clever Boys take on University of Pretoria in their PSL match-up this evening, and Shongwe knows victory from here on in is their only hope of achieving title glory.

“Starting from tonight we must win every match we play,” he said.

“We cannot afford to lose or draw any more of our eleven remaining matches if we want to be crowned as champions."

Wits host Tuks at Bidvest stadium tonight, with kick-off at 20:00.
