Shu-Aib Walters: Black Aces are ready for Orlando Pirates

Posted: 19 February 2016 Time: 10:46

Mpumalanga Black Aces are looking forward to adding more salt to the Orlando Pirates wounds when they meet at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

Pirates are still licking their wounds after they were beaten 1-0 by Free State Stars on Wednesday night, slipping down into 11th position with only 23 points this season.

The Soweto giants have also scored just 21 goals and conceded the same number after 19 games.

Aces are currently enjoying their best season in a long time and want to maintain their good record at home when they host the Buccaneers.

Their first-choice goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters says the team is ready to inflict more misery on Eric Tinkler’s side.

“We are geared up and looking forward to the game. It’s going to be a tough encounter but we are looking forward to a positive result,” Walters tells

“We still want to maintain our unbeaten record at home and that’s another motivation not to lose on Sunday,” he adds.

Pirates and Aces played to a 1-1 draw in their first Absa Premiership match this season, and Walters is not falling into the trap of believing that Pirates’ defeat to Stars means they will be weak.

“We can’t read much into that [Pirates’ defeat]. They can create chances and there are players that we need to watch and take care of on Sunday,” he concludes.
