Free State Stars striker Andrea Fileccia has returned to Belgium following his knee injury

Posted: 17 February 2016 Time: 18:52

Free State Stars striker Andrea Fileccia returned home to Belgium as he aims to recover from a serious knee injury which has left him on crutches.

Fileccia injured his knee after a poor challenge from Bloemfontein Celtic defender Tshepo Rikhotso during their 1-0 Absa Premiership win at Goble Park last month.

The 24-year-old had been Stars’ leading man upfront with six league goals, but since his injury the club has been left thin with options up front.

KickOff.com has since been informed that Fileccia has been allowed time away and will return home to recover until next month.

“Fileccia has been allowed by the club to go and do part of his recovery back home in Belgium, following that ungly injury which left him using crutches," revealed a source.

"He is now expected back in the country next month but chances of him playing this season again are very slim."
