Stuart Baxter to make Ejike Uzoenyi call

Posted: 15 February 2016 Time: 14:11

SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter has given himself this week to decide whether or not to sign Ejike Uzoenyi.

The Nigerian midfielder has spent the past few weeks training with Matsatsantsa after failing to make an impact at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Uzoenyi was given more time to make an impression at United after Baxter was appointed coach, and the Englishman says a decision will be made this week.

“Ejike has been working with us but because we have had a lot of games, I haven’t had really had time to look at him,” Baxter says.

“This is because we prepare at training for games and you do not get time to look at all the players. I don’t think he has had an opportunity to show what he can do.

“I know he can play, but I want to to give an educated assessment based on the bigger picture of who are foreign players, where he will fit in and how much he will cost, and I’ll will do that probably midweek.

“I will have a couple of training sessions and then speak to management and see how it goes.”
