Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has shed some light on the injurly list at the club, while revealing that defender Siyabonga Sangweni is set for a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Sangweni last featured in Pirates' CAF Confederations Cup final second leg defeat to Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel at the end of November, when he suffered a serious knee injury.
Tinkler has also explained the extent of the injuries of each player in the Bucs treatments room, with most expected back within the next couple of weeks.
“Rooi Mahamutsa is still out with a hamstring [strain]; Oupa Manyisa will be back, probably, by April," says Tinkler.
"Happy Jele is doing a bit of field work now, hopefully we will have him back in a week or two.
“Thandani Ntshumayelo is down with a flue, he should be back within a next week.
"Siyabonga Sangweni has a knee ligament injury – I don't think we will see him again for the rest of the reason.
“Thabo Qalinge should be available for selection in our next match against Free State Stars.”
The ex-Bidvest Wits assistant admitted that Sangweni's absence comes as blow to the team, especially with their habit of conceding soft goals through the back.
“Obviously [we will miss Sangweni]; he is a captain; he is a leader and he has got a lot of experience.
"His is obviously a big loss because of his experience and the influence that he also has over the squad.”
